Kitchen Refresh Part 3
Q and A with Paula from Gallant Restorations
As part of my kitchen refresh blog series here is a Q & A with Paula from Gallant Restorations…
Hello Paula, Thank you for your time - can you tell me about Gallant Restorations?
At Gallant Restorations, we undertake any restoration work where timber is involved. We deal with everything including modern furniture repairs, antique restoration and spray finishing including kitchens and furniture.
Sounds great, so basically if it’s made of wood you can let your imagination run wild?
Anything is possible, you just need to have the imagination and tell us what you want.
(Definatly my kind of place).
So, what do you do to kitchens?
We spray kitchens with a durable kitchen grade lacquer in the colour of your choice, the spray lacquer we use is to the British Standard appropriate for kitchen use.
Is it hard wearing? Kitchens get a lot of use and abuse?
It is extremely hard wearing and durable, in fact you can have the same expectations from it as you would from a new kitchen.
What colours can I choose from?
You can have any colour you want. All you need to do is provide us with a paint manufacturer and the name of their paint. Or if you have a fabric you love or you’d like to match the colour of your crockery, give us a sample and we can respray your kitchen the same colour!
What about the bits that won’t come off?
Most of a kitchen can be dismantled, however you are inevitably left with some items which will not, such as end panels and carcass edges. The lacquer we use can be brushed or rollered on, so you can buy a kit to do this yourself or have us come out and do it for you.
How long does it take?
Once your kitchen is booked in we would have it for around 10 working days.
Do I need to do anything else?
You do not need to prepare your kitchen in any way to have them refinished, except to give them a quick clean.
What about the handles?
You may like to think about getting new handles to complete your new look kitchen, we can fill the existing handle holes before refinishing.
What if some of my doors are damaged?
If some of your doors are damaged, we will repair as appropriate. To some degree people have to be realistic because we are reconditioning, not providing new, but usually something can always be done.
Can you refinish any kitchen material – wood, mdf etc?
Yes, we can refinish any original kitchen factory finish so that would include wood, MDF (and bare MDF), vinyl wrap, foil wrap and lacquered.
How much will it cost?
We have standardised our prices so you can count up easily how much it would cost, without having to measure everything. On our website there is a simple price calculator for your to use,
